I love this story and read it as a child. I ordered it for Christmas for my girls and was so disappointed when it arrived. It is not a regular sized book like I had as a girl, but a tiny book that is the size of my palm. Looking over the description, I can see that if you click the "read more" link at the bottom, it does say that this is a mini book, but I really think it should be stated clearly in the page title.

It's ridiculous that you have to dig through the "read more" description to find out that this book is unnecessarily tiny, about 3 inches by 3 inches. Whomever designed this must not know anything about small children. My niece wanted to hear the story and look at the pictures but literally could not see them because everything was too small, so the present was completely useless. The size should be on the main description, not hidden in the detailed description. The book itself, though, is fantastic! We need more books like this for little ladies. I'm adding one star because it was very easy to get a refund and another because the book itself is very good, but that description is very misleading.

This story is fantastic. My daughter is like most little girls, she loves Disney Princesses and although I like them too I am not overly fond of the message they send. This story is a wonderful and funny way to counter that message. The problem I have with the ACTUAL product is the size. This book is tiny, itty bity, minuscule, etc. If I put this "book" in my purse it will disappear and never be found again. If your child likes to hold the book while you read to him/her, you will have an issue with the size of this little paperback. Granted, it is a cute size to behold, but totally impractical. If you can find a larger size, buy it. I have attached a photo of the book next to a penny and a business card so you can get a good idea of how small this book really is.

SO SMALL. I apparently bought the postage stamp version of this book. Banana for scale.

The rating is for the book, not the size of the book. After hearing of this book, we wanted to have a copy to read to our young family and friends. We were VERY surprised to see that this paperback was VERY tiny at only 3.5"inches x 0.1" x 3.5"inches. And after reading other reviews, it mentioned a 2nd picture showing the book in the palm of a hand. We did not see that when we ordered ours.We would never have thought we had to check the "size" of a book when it did not mention in the title that it was a miniature series book.That being said, we only paid $1.79, so we're not upset, just surprised. Our 3 year old family members will love it.

This book is a New Family Favorite!!!!!! The story line was a little harder to keep up with for a five year old but it does offer many laughs. When the Princess is standing there "naked", it elicited deep belly laughs from Julie. Even though the drawing does not really show the girl naked because she is covered appropriately, Julie laughed and laughed that how could a girl be naked in a book? My daughter loved that the girl was wearing a paper bag. Did she have any under clothes on? Oh No! Is she still naked? While my daughter did not get that the Princess is the one that tires out the dragon, she did think it funny that the Dragon could no longer burn up the Princess. She thought that the Prince was rude to the girl but then she thought that the Princess was rude to the Prince at the end as well. I am so glad we bought this book because it is one that will be read over and over and over.

The story is great - an engaging, fast-paced, and welcome counter-narrative to the princess-with-little-agency-who-needs-rescuing genre. It’s highly recommended by Mighty Girl, from which I clicked through in order to give them a small portion of the sale.The writing is a shade too spare and clipped for me, and while I like the illustrations, they don’t “pop” as much as some other books. One star off for that.A second star off for the packaging. It came in a one of those large mustard yellow lightly padded envelopes, and the mail carrier stuffed it into our mailbox. As a result, the paperback is somewhat curved and misshapen. Sturdier packaging would’ve helped. C’mon, Amazon!

Good book but tiny size. It should be stated more clearly in the title. In fact, the picture of the book shown is the original (which I have) and not what is received. Hence I was very surprised when I got such a tiny book. (See my the picture for the original vs what is received). As I see now that there is a second picture that shows its size but the first picture looks just like the full size original that I had. I also now see there were several reviews by people having the same problem and missing the second photoAnother thing I noticed is there have been some changes in wording which I think are not for the better.

David Fideler has done a lot of research and noted parallels in the Greek world, the same world that we are told the Apostle Paul came to give witness about the dying and resurrecting Savior of Humanity. How would these Greek nations hear the story told to them? This book goes right into the Hellenic mindset and shows us how our earliest traditions formed and even why some stories in the Gospels are there, seemingly out of place. Ever wonder why Jesus has the title, "The Word?" It is explained right here in Chapter 3!WARNING-- If you believe that the Bible is the inerrant word of God, THEN STAY AWAY FROM THIS BOOK! You won't like it. It will be a challenging read, questioning everything you held dear since childhood. BUT if you are serious in wanting to see an alternate vision of Christianity.... then I say, GET THIS BOOK AND GET IT YESTERDAY!

This is a great book for whoever wants to know more about Ellenism and Christianity. Form this point of view, this is an excellent piece of work: easy to read and approachable. HOWEVER, like Michell, numerology, sacred geometry, gematria, etc. are all nicely presented and explained but simply lack any understanding of the function within the narrative of the Gospels. Yes, the 153 fish parable and the feeding of 5000 are most certainly a gnostic encoded piece of mathematical knowledge. They do not know what to make of them because essentially the attitude of the book, (like those of Michell) is "I got it right, you are content with a superficial reading of the text, look at this instead!" The point is that the author wants recognition for a "discovery" that does not add anything to the actual understanding of the Gospel. Beware of authors who claim they got the Gospels right. They are like those who claim to know how the pyramids were built.....

This is one book that completely changed my perspective of early Christianity: Fideler states "Christianity.... is a Greek religion" and "originated in the Hellenistic age when the streams of Greek, Judaic, Egyptian, and Eastern cultures flowed together to create powerful new social, spiritual, and philosophical syntheses." The author touches upon Gematria, the Solar Logos, the Gnostic tradition, the Mithraic Mysteries, and more. Of all the books I have read in the past 40 years, this one is in my top 10. A fascinating read!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The material was very well presented. I found myself alternating between making margin notes, jumping up to look up references in other books, sitting lost in thought with the ideas presented, and experiencing "ah ha!" moments. I cannot recommend this book enough. This book presents perhaps the best explanation of sacred geometry I have yet read, and demonstrates how this information was used in fields such as ancient architecture, philosophy and theology. While a person new to these topics may find it somewhat overwhelming, it will provide an excellent foundation for future studies. Although if this is one of your first investigations into these matters I suggest re-reading it again a year or so after you have digested related information such as comparative religion and mythology, Kabbalah, sacred geometry, gnostic texts of the Nag Hammadi library, Carl Jung's presentations on Archetype and gnostic thought ("Seven Sermons to the Dead"), etc.It includes over 20 pages of explanatory (end) notes with citations, which I recommend reading along with the text as they are very well chosen and illuminating. I do not have all the source material he cites, but of those that I have, I have verified his quotes, as well as his characterizations of their implications. I find this to be a very well thought out book, carefully researched, and very well written. I really think anyone who finds this type of information interesting will love this book! Buy it. Study it. Keep it handy for future reference.

Anyone interested in the origins and evolution of symbolism in the Christian faith, this is your book. The author cites many examples from the Hellenistic and Roman periods as well as the more ancient Babylonian, Egyptian and Persian periods. What I found most intriguing is the amount of similarities among these earlier practitioners of the faiths we've come to know today. Well-researched and cited for further reading should one wish to do so.

A key book which takes numerous strands eg gematria, musical ratios, architecture and weaves them into a firm rope which the reader will use to hoist him/herself to a higher level of knowledge which will show why Jesus Christ Was The Sun Of God.

As an artist, color is a thing of magic in my life. Color creates shapes, forms, and feelings in the artworks I paint. Laying color onto a blank page is when I feel closest to true magic, when I feel happiest and most relaxed, and it's through what I create that I share my love of magic with the world.Through my coloring books I want to share that same magic with you. The artworks in my books are based on my completed paintings, which I have painted over the last ten years as a professional artist. I have created the coloring designs to be intricate and detailed but still fun and accessible. There is something for lovers of meditative detail while simple enough to not be overwhelming for younger colorists.  When designing my books I decided to print them with two copies of each design, because I know as an artist there are always so many possibilities! I wanted to give everybody the chance of a do-over with every design. Try a different medium, or a different colour scheme. Or a chance to share the magic with a friend, child, parent, sibbling. All of Selina Fenech's coloring books are the best!

Great coloring book! has two copies of each picture so that you can recolor if you choose. They are one sided so you can use multiple mediums to color with. These are the prettiest fairies I've seen and I'm enjoying coloring them! I've included a picture that I have about 75% finished.

 This is a book of very pretty adult fairies (female and male) designs along with their devoted and loving companions. They are shown with their dragons, gargoyles, and, in a number of designs, the adult fairies are holding one another in loving embraces. There are 25 different designs, however, what is great is that this artist provides 2 of each design, so you have a total of 50 designs to color (or to share depending on your mood.)As with the previous book that I have by this artist (“Enchanted”), the designs are quite elegant and have a great deal of detail in them. There are several “nudes” where hair and whatnot cover up the strategic areas so that the individuals are not technically nude. The designs flow without harsh corners or many straight lines.The designs are printed on one side of the page with the back left blank. The paper is the thin white that is typical for CreateSpace publishing and is not perforated. The binding is glued rather than sewn in. A few of the design merge into the binding, so removing the page might be a tad difficult without losing some portion of it but for the most part, the portion that would be lost is not essential to the design.The paper is fairly thin and all markers and gel pens leak through. As the back of each page is blank, you can put a piece of card stock or really heavyweight paper under the page you are working on to keep ink from ruining the rest of the book. My coloring pencils worked well with the paper.

Love these books...only thing I would change is to make the paper a tad heavier...love how they giveyou two sets of the pictures.

Although Selina's books are called "adult coloring books" I bought this one along with 4 others (5 total) as Christmas gifts for my 7 year old who is very creative & artistic. I wanted something to inspire & challenge her more bc she & I both agree that kids coloring books are pretty much all the same cartoons with no vision. After receiving the books and reviewing them to make sure they would be appropriate, which they absolutely are, I found them to be absolutely beautiful & the perfect gift for her. When she opened them on Christmas she fell absolutely in love with them, and even better is that they have inspired her. Not only does she love learning how to color them like an adult artist (with blending, contouring, shading, ect.), but Selina has inspired & challenged her to learn how to create on a higher level with her own drawings, paintings, and so forth. I also love her coloring in Selina's books. I suffer from many health issues, and so I have found that whenever I get stressed or anxious I ask my daughter if I can color in one of her books (which she always says yes). I have found a new outlet coloring her beautiful drawings. They help me relax and clear my mind of whatever is happening within and around me. An even better thing about Selina's books is that there are 2 of every drawings in each book so my daughter & I can color the same picture together yet separately when we want and see how different yet beautiful we can color them.

Love all of the coloring books from Selina, quality coloring books I keep coming back to. I shared some of these around and actually tore the book in half to let some of my friends color these as well since they loved her artwork. I didn't have any issues with the glitter pens I use bleeding through the paper though I still took the precaution of pulling each page before coloring each time. I was very cautious since I know I normally color a bit heavier with my glitter pens and I didn't want to accidentally destroy any of the pages.

Really had a good time with this artist. Her creativity is fun!

I haven't found anything I don't like about he books. She is a wonderful artist and I love that she has two copies of each picture so that I can try different mediums. I have gotten every one of her coloring books that aren't grayscale, they are next.She has just the right amount of detail without overdoing it. I just wish my coloring could do her the justice she deserves.

I love Selina Frenech coloring books she is so talented. I love coloring fairies and hers are so detailed and beautiful. I love sharing these books with my bestie. Less scholarly than I expected. The forward discusses the Council of Jamnia and its role in creating the Jewish canon. However, councils were a Christian invention and were unknown in Judaism. Furthermore, Jamnia did not decide upon the canon. This egregious error ruined the entire volume for me.

Worth buying if anyone is interested in deeper understanding of Apocrypha parts of the Bible!

Fascinating!

One of the great services that InterVarsity Press has given us is a wide range of collections centered on the ancient Christians. These series, such as the series on the Creeds and this voluminous set, provides for modern Christians a touchstone to the past, a hallmark of those who have gone before. In doing so, they shed light on modern beliefs that `have always been.'Billing itself as a `Christian Talmud' (Oden, Introduction xii), it contains passages of scripture (pericopes) with commentary by the patristic writers. The passages are given in the Revised Standard Version (unless textual variants require the use of the Latin), following the order and the versification of the RSV. Further, the arrangement of the books in this volume follow the RSV as well. While not all books (such as 1st Maccabees) is included, namely because ancient writers rarely if at all quoted from them, the more well know are, such as Wisdom, Sirach and Tobit.The importance of these volumes resides not in the introductions, overviews, and histories provided, but in the author sources which are used. These volumes go beyond the normal name to include those Christians who are less known, but no less important. We have the standards like Clement of Rome, Augustine and Irenaeus but we have those not commonly cited in the West such as John Cassian. We also have unknowns (to me) such as Hesychius, Isaac of Nineveh, a few pseudo's, and even Fastidiosus. There are Elders, such as Salvian, and popes, such as Leo the Great. Victor of Vita and some Anonymous Italians join the list as well. As does Didymus the Blind and his teacher, Origen. The Julians Three make the list - of Eclanum, Pomerius and Africanus. Even the Spaniard, Leander of Seville makes the index of authors. And it goes on and on and on... with names that I wouldn't dare to pronounce out loud and some I even give up on before I think it.The volumes include pericopes of passages, overviews, and topical arrangements per book. For this volume, a history of the Septuagint and an overview of the Apocryphal books are included as well. This serves to introduce, if needed, the readers to what they are about to read. It has not always been that these books were roundly excluded from Christian discourse, but have been used, some more than others, to help determine matters of the Church.Each volume is large, and this one no different. Coming in at 540 pages worth of material, the fifteenth volume in the Old Testament series provides a much need review of early Christian writers and how they used the hidden books to bring to light Christian values, doctrines and dogma.

Recently I taught through the books of the Apocrypha at our Adult Sunday School class. This was one of the books I used to help put my notes together. The other was the excellent Introducing the Apocrypha: Message, Context, and Significance. Eventually the class lectures led to me writing and publishing The Rest of the Bible, which is a devotional overview of these books.I have several volumes of this series of commentaries and have mixed feelings about the various volumes. The impetus and intention of this project is admirable and needed, but at times the selected passages and authors seems questionable. Maybe I am asking too much, because the challenge to gather commentary from the various works of the Church Fathers is a daunting one. Of all the volumes I have read, the Genesis volume is by far the best.The major disappointment with this volume is the lack of any commentary on the books of the Maccabees. Perhaps they are planning a part 2 or including that as a separate book. The Fathers quote Maccabees often, so there is no lack of material.The portion of this book is the comments on Tobit. That alone is worth the cost of the volume.

The Ancient Christian Commentary puts out the original writings of the early church fathers. It is one of the most valuable set of books for understanding Scripture as well as for understanding the foundations of the Christian faith. This book is in excellent condition and helps complete my entire set. Thank you.
