Riveting. My heart travels to my to my throat and I loose a breath and tears cloud my view. Words inspired through a dedicated author who uses his gift through the Holy spirit and a gracious God to reach lost souls such as me. Thank you Max . I am convinced God lives inside your pen.
I never cease to be amazed by the incredible gift God has given this author. His writing is easy to understand and yet challenging to readers who have spent a lifetime studying the scriptures. He can take any story from the Bible and make the reader see it in an entirely new light. I never get tired of reading his books.
I so enjoyed reading this book in the weeks leading up to Christmas. You could easily sit and finish it in one sitting, but I savored it a story at a time. I loved it so much, I bout 7 copies to give to family and friends. I am a big fan of Mac Lucado and have many of his books and devotionals and record his program daily. His message is always clear and applicable to my life. The stories in this book will stay with you long after you turn the last page.
A word smith like no other, Max warms the heart with thoughts in words we never began to think. Like, the Shepherd humming the Gloria's the angles sang! My heart over flows with love for my Lord when I read anything Max has written. God has surely blessed him with this gift.
A must buy to read during the Christmas/Advent season with family. Both of my kids never grow out of these stories and look forward to reading them together as a family every night.
I received this book as a gift from one the preschoolers in my Pre-K class. I'm already a fan of Max Lucado (the book A Love Worth Giving: Living in the Overflow of God's Love started it all - awesome book!!) so I was pretty excited to read it! I loved the book to say in the least! The story that stuck out to me most was "An Angel's Story". I've never really thought of all the events of Christ's birth through the eyes of Gabriel. Now of course this is what is imagined of how it might have been, we don't know really what all went on between God, Gabriel, and Satan. It was a really intriguing read though and very thought-provoking for me. The Candle Maker story was good, too, I thought (really, they all were good!). Most of the stories are quick reads and they all are encouraging showing us God's Love. Definitely worth buying! I bought it off amazon for my Kindle and maybe I can now share the hard copy book with someone else!
Max Lucado is so easy to read but so insightful. He always writes in a down to earth way that reflects what I'm wondering about Christ. I loved the Christmas Candle story and the way he wrote about what Joseph and Mary might have been thinking.
I have so enjoyed this collection! Short stories when I don't have a lot of time, and longer pieces when I do. These have helped me focus more on Jesus at Christmas as we have become more bombarded commercially. Because I love Christmas, this will become a book I'll often pick up year-round.
