Thrilled finding a patient's experiences, as shoulder replacement support not widely available. My replacement and recovery went differently, but reading a healing timeline made me less anxious, knowing it will get much better, just not as fast as one would like. A Blog turned into a book was NOT helpful practically speaking. I did not finish reading it. I also purchased, "The Friendly Handbook of SHOULDER SURGERY COPING TIPS AND TRICKS" and "SHOULDER SURGERY RECOVERY over 100 tips and strategies to make it much easier" Both of these books get a 5 STAR Rating. I am two weeks post op shoulder replacement on my dominant arm and I went home the day after surgery and slept in my own bed. I purchased adaptive equipment that was suggested in the books and never used any of it but better to have and not need. The only thing I cannot do is drive because I have not started PT yet but I have been off pain meds for a week.
I’m planning joint replacement surgery on both shoulders. I’m more concerned about recovery than actual surgery so it’s great to get information from someone who has been there. Good Postop tips. I appreciated hearing the ups and downs for a realistic view.
