Book #1 of Nightmare Before Christmas: Zero's Journey was a quick and fun read!I cruised right through this book! It only took me about fifteen minutes to read it. Granted I was so anxious to see what was going to happen next, I didn't take my usual time looking at the artwork. So of course, when I finished the story, I went back to get a better look at the art... Which of course, I just loved!I was very excited to see that this was fully colored! When I read the preview, I was curious to see if this would be full color or if we would go back to the black and white style of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas by Jun Asuka. I really enjoyed how dark the Halloween Town panels were, especially when compared to the brighter panels from Christmas Town!Overall, I thought that the story was interesting! I like that Zero ends up back in Christmas Town where he learns more about the holiday first hand. Jack is clearly still a bit obsessed with the holiday!

This book is intended as a sequel to the original film we all know and love. I have to say, I was instantly swept back into that nostalgic world Tim Burton created for us to enjoy on the screen some 25 years ago when I opened to those first pages. The characters all feel very much the same as they were when we last met them. Nothing in the story feels contrived or out of place. And Jack, of course, is my favorite character still! The way the dialogue and imagery is woven together here is done masterfully, in my opinion. I simply cannot wait for the next three installments in this series. If the remaining installments are done right, these will have my eternal adoration. (Can we get this story in film format, please?!) Well done!

When Jack starts absently playing fetch with Zero, Zero ends up in the grove of holidays and ends up in Christmas Town. He makes new friends like flying reindeer and a friendly elf that takes him in. Jack is worried about his friend, but too busy to go looking so he asks for help from an unlikely group.This manga collects issues 0-4 of the series. I enjoyed reading this one, and I liked that it was full color. The art and story should appeal to young readers who like the movie.I received a review copy of this manga from Tokyopop, Diamond Book Distributors, and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this manga.

Sooo I don’t get it...why is it backward??? I wish I had read the other reviews before ordering...oh well. We saw this in a store and it wasn’t backwards so I didn’t think anything about it. I didn’t even really notice when we got it (ordered for my daughters birthday). My husband asked me if it and before I contacted Amazon to return it I re-read the reviews and description and sure enough....I guess it’s on purpose. I just wish it clearly stated it in the description

I can't wait to see how the story of poor lost Zero continues. Perfect for readers of all ages.

When I first saw the cover I was exciting to see and read about the actress who I watched on GGTD and Good Girls. I didn't even know she was a comedian, but turns out this girl is funny! Yes language is rough, but it gives you the chance to see the real personality she has. Its a great read and very funny.

Retta is my spirit animal. I laughed so much that I spat out the beverage I was drinking while reading and almost choked. Life is too short to not laugh every day! Do yourself the favor and buy this book. I promise you that it will be good for your health.

Loved this, couldn’t put it down. Reading this is like hanging out with your best friend, IF your best friend is hilarious. Couldn’t relate to the coffee or handbag obsession but I still wanted to hear all about it. I CAN relate to the Hamilton obsession and I’m totally jelly cause Retta has seen it SIX times and I’ve only seen it once. I loved the chapter about the celebrity encounters at awards shows and I wished that chapter would go on forever.

Before purchasing this book I read all of the reviews, good and bad, and decided to go ahead and purchase it.I liked the format, with all of the sidebars and profiles, and all of the photographs.If one is looking for a "how-to" book, this isn't it. It is a basic overview of old school espionage, and the then tools of the trade.One reviewer stated that you can't suppress a revolver. Well, yes you can. Both the Nagant M1895, described in this book, and another Russian designed weapon the OTs-38, are suppressible. It's a combination of the cartridge design and the cylinder action when the weapon is cocked.Overall it was a fun read and I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in how they did things, before computers. Yes, there was a time when there were no computers. It's amazing how civilization has lasted as long as it has without them! :-)

This shows spy equipment from WWII to the cold war. It is a really interesting book with lots of pictures. It is a great companion to Spycraft: The Secret History of the CIA's Spytechs, from Communism to Al-Qaeda, which tells the history of espionage from the cold war and beyond.

Love love love this book! So beautifully designed - from the embossed detail on the front cover to the wonderful photographs & layout inside. If you are a lover of contemporary pottery and art then this is a must for your coffee table. The artists stories and work is wonderful and brilliantly varied. My only negative comment? I wish there had been a feature on Los Angeles potters - maybe for the next book ;-)

This book is beautiful to look at. If you are a ceramist or just love reading about the lives and work of creative people, I recommend this book.

I've read most of the books on competitive swimming technique going all the way back to Counsilman's "Science of Swimming" and if I was going to own only one book, this would be it. It is clearly written with beautifully clear photos that make it a pleasure to read over and over. Each time, I get something more out of it, or refresh something I'd forgotten. The best part is it's accuracy. Sheila uses world record holders and world record performances to illustrate the physics, form and turnover rate we should be using. As a competitive swimmer and coach, this is a gold mine of great information!

This is not the definitive book of swimming, but it is the probably the best single book for the individual swimmer to understand how to improve their technique and the science of it. It is a nice read with excellent photos. It shows you exactly how you should be doing it, photo by photo. You can apply what you read immediately even if you just read the chapter for a specific stroke.. written by a swimmer for swimmers. It had an immediate impact on my technique and time..

I've been swimming for about three years with no improvement in swim speed, which was difficult for me to believe. I knew there must be a technique problem. I took a short swim clinic by the author Sheila and followed up by buying and reading this book and her other book on the freestyle stroke Swim Speed Secrets. This book highlights the most important part of the stroke - the pull - and gives you all the specifics needed to improve. Now I have specific things to think about to improve my stroke. Within just a few weeks of practicing these techniques I was swimming faster and enjoying swimming more. I also like how she highlights the similarities between different strokes, which gives me simpler rules to follow when I'm trying to improve.

A great sequel to her first book. It is the best book on stroke technique out there. The book would be worth buying for the photos alone.I wound up buying 3 copies of her first book because I loaned them to people who loved it. They loaned the book to people, who loaned it to people, who loaned it..., etc. I am telling no one I bought this.

I have 2 swimmers and have been in the sport for over 2 decades. I've read dozens and dozens of swim books and this is the best book I've ever seen to explain visually and verbally the process of swimming fast. Clear. Concise. Efficient. If you want to maximize your speed or the speed of someone you know, this is the book.Sheila rocks!

Excellent book describing each stroke and how to do it. The author focuses on freestyle but the great pictures and description of each stroke is well done and easily understood.I wish her workouts included strokes other than freestyle. She says do fly but no drills on the stroke.

This has been beneficial in terms of understanding the various strokes. I am going to go back and look at her earlier book and look at companion videos. The pictures are extremely beneficial because it has allowed me the opportunity to see what the hand position looks like through the pull and check body position. Utilizing several athletes allows the chance to compare the strokes and see the similarities and differences. Well done.

If you are at all serious about improving your strokes, this book is for you. It breaks down the elements of each stroke and is full of photos of world-class swimmers doing the strokes properly. It is written for pretty much any swimmer at any level. It will help you.
